Softball Raiders Earn a Championship Title
By: Robert Lubinski
The Raiders’ Softball team got off to an impressive
start in the PSAL championship game against Susan Wagner. Within two innings,
PR had an overwhelming 9-3 lead which brought them to a final score of 15-9, a
memorable victory. For the first time in 14 years, Port Richmond won a Softball
title.
Eight of PR's nine starters had at least one base
hit and the only player who didn't walked twice and scored two runs. Freshmen
Lily Russo (three runs, RBI, 2B) and Nancy Revilla (two walks, three runs, two
RBI) led the offensive assault with three hits apiece. Nicole Revilla (two
runs, walk, two SB), Alexa Venditti (two runs, 2B), Jessica Gottlieb (run, four
RBI, 2B) and Alexandra Labita (3B, run, SF, SAC) added two hits each for PR.
