How do you join the Crow's Nest?

Dear Raider,

You can join the Crow's Nest by seeing Ms. Bresowsky in A329 and talk to her about possibly joining the Journalism class. Wish you the best.

                                                                                   Sincerely,
                                                                                        Your friend the Crow

 St. Patrick's Day Parade

Port Richmond High School’s marching band fought through the wind to entertain the people of New York City for the St. Patrick’s Day parade.  After having to march through the brutal snow during Staten Island St. Patrick’s Day parade, tackling this wind was nothing. While the band was waiting to kick off, the students had a little fun and played music. The band members and people who were watching showed off some dance moves. The band kicked off around 3:40 p.m. and finished around 5:00 p.m. Marching in the parade was a fun experience; everyone was having a great time. Port Richmond Alumni came to support the marching band Amanda Jost, said, “I had fun, it’s an awesome way to spend senior year with my close friends.”

Why can't students go out to eat lunch?

Dear Raider,

Eating lunch out of the school building would be too much of a safety risk. It's a really big liability if we let students leave to get lunch and they somehow get hurt. There would also be the issue of finding a spot where the students would be able to sit and eat their lunch. Our principal has carefully reviewed this option before, but we have to take into consideration that the decision couldn't be made over night. Just be patient, somehow I feel that we would be able to soon.

                                                                                Sincerely,
                                                                                      Your friend the Crow

Why are guys so shy sometimes?

Dear Raider,

That's just the way some guys are. They aren't very comfortable opening up with others. It might be because they lack self-confidence.

                                                                                       Sincerely,
                                                                                            Your friend the Crow

"Mr. Crow, do you think winter is over? I'm tired of snow."

Dear Sick of Snow,
I’m not sure if we’re getting any more snow, but the first day of spring is March 20th. Hang in there, warm weather is on its way!

Port Richmond High School Now CPR Smart
by Larissa Poliseno

Port Richmond High School has recently become the first CPR smart school.  As a part of the physical education and health program, The American Heart Association will give free CPR training to students. The American Heart Association donated equipment that will allow multiple students to be able to perform CPR at once. According to Melinda Murray, a spokeswoman for the American Heart Association, about 90 percent of victims of cardiac arrest do not survive, because they don't receive CPR in time. Melinda Murray Stated “Our mission is to help ensure that anyone who suffers cardiac arrest in New York City has a better shot at surviving - and to have CPR education in our schools is key to making this happen!" Borough President James Oddo is supporting Port Richmond becoming CPR smart and said that he hopes “this will inspire other Staten Island high schools to follow suit and get CPR training resources for their students."

Why are Seniors given 8 periods?

Dear Senior,

According to Ms. Pavon, "every senior is suppose to have 5 1/2 hours of instruction apart from lunch and gym." Although it might be difficult to have 8 periods, you're already half way there, so just finish the race.

                                                                                     Sincerely,
                                                                                            Your friend the Crow

How can I get this girl that broke up with me back?

Dear Broken-Hearted,

If she broke up with you, I wouldn't get back with her. She probably had a good reason to break up with you and you’ll just get hurt even more if you go back with her. If you broke up the first time, it probably won’t work out and it’ll just be a waste of time. If it’s really meant to be, you guys will find a way back together. Remember, there are many other fish in the sea.

                                                                         Sincerely,
                                                                                  Your friend the Crow

How can I nail a job interview?

Dear Job Seeker,

The best way to nail a job interview is by dressing appropriately and being respectful. Always have a smile on your face and pay attention to detail; they want to see if you’re really interested in the job.  One way to show interest is to do research on the company you’re applying for. Try to impress the hiring manager with your achievements or rewards received, but don’t overdo it.

                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                     Your friend the Crow
P.S. You'll do great! Good Luck

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Sunday March 1st, was the St.Patrick's day parade on Forest Avenue. Port Richmond High School's marching band was one of the many participants marching in the parade. Despite the cold and the snow, the band pushed through and walked the whole parade.
